Joshua is two years old!!!! His birthday was on Wednesday, but we are still celebrating. He is loving all the opportunities he's getting to blow out candles & eat sugary delights like ice cream, cake, & cookies!
Today, his great-grandparents brought him a big birthday cookie with very tasty blue frosting on it. He loved it!
On his actual birthday, the 18th, we went to play group & celebrated with the other kids by eating some mint & chip ice cream. Joshua hasn't had much ice cream in his two short years of life, but he certainly made up for it on his birthday by asking for "more" at least three times. He also polished off another kid's leftover ice cream.
Since we didn't have a cake or candles or a daddy around to celebrate the traditional way, I let Joshy blow out a pine scented votive candle a few times & eat more ice cream to celebrate his birthday. He was pretty happy with that fortunately.
Later in the day he got to blow out a bigger candle a bunch of times & eat a chocolate chip cookie, the remainder of which can be seen on his smile.
THE BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT... FOR ME :-)
I got this awesome plate for Joshua for his birthday with a bald face guy on it... you know, like those magnetic toys of old. I'm having so much more fun with it than Joshua is. He humors me & eats what I put on the plate at least.
Here's Mr. Egghead...
...and Berry Man-ilow.
THE BABY MEN
These boys are such good happy babies. I love hanging out with them all day every day!
Our happy babies are getting bigger & happier by the day! They are starting to gurgle & "talk," which is so fun to hear. I love waking up to their happy chatter in the morning! (Yes, I am still waking up to a lot of cries all night, but they're happier by morning, which is nice.)
The little boys are doing a great job of playing with the toys dangling on their play mat. They are grabbing a lot of things these days, which surprises me sometimes. They knock things off the table while sitting on my lap. I have to move my dinner plate way back on the table now. They also grasp onto my hair, necklaces, earrings, and collars.
I should have put Thing 1 on the left. Oh well. I'll try again and maybe they'll smile next time. They are taking this twin thing way too seriously in this picture!
WE LOVE OUR BABIES!
Joshy really loves his brothers. He is always looking for "one two" and making sure they are happy. When they cry, he says "baby sad" and makes sure I get on my way to help them.
Daddy loves his babies too. Here he is with cute little Sam, who is wearing one of my favorite fluffy outfits. They are like cuddly teddy bears when wearing these outfits.
Like my mirror picture? I was trying to capture my new method for holding two babies, which allows me to keep one hand free to do other things. I love baby carriers! I have three different types and use them all.
Here we are at the park at night. (It's a well-lit park by the bay.) We enjoy watching Joshy running around and climbing on everything.
BENJAMIN
Here's big Benjamin. He's really starting to smile a lot, but rarely for the camera.
Here's his happy smile!
He can spin that little bee ball on this play seat. It's amazing to watch the little boys figure out how to use their hands.
It was a bit cold at the park, so little Benjam was all bundled up. He looks so funny with just his big staring eyes visible!
SAMUEL
Samuel was being a hat model for Gramma. She was testing out some of her latest designs to see how they work on a real baby head. Sam liked this hat!
He thought this one was funny, but cute.
Bananas over Mommy? Mommy is bananas over her babies!
SamSweety was pretty excited about hanging out on his big brother's bed. It's way cooler than a crib! Joshy recently got a big boy bed that's all decked out with Cars stuff. He likes it, but often ends up asleep on the floor.
JOSHUA
Joshua loves to "cook." He especially loves to crack eggs and he does a pretty good job of it. We've been making a ton of french toast and scrambled eggs as a result. I'm glad he likes to eat the eggs he cracks since he wants to crack some every day.
Look how cute the little chef is in his apron... well, it's my apron adjusted to his size. He didn't really like wearing it and was requesting that it be removed as I took this picture.
Joshua loves kicking a soccer ball. He runs all over the park kicking this ball around.
Joshy got this awesome "tractor" (safari jeep) from his Meema and Beebop for his birthday. He loves driving his "amimals" around the house in it!
Joshy is learning to drive. He has no idea how to steer though, so he runs himself into everything at full battery speed. Pretty funny, but I guess it's still fun for him.
I made a cornstarch mixture for Joshua to play with the other day. He wasn't sure about it, but enjoyed pulling and stretching the curious batter for a while.
Joshua is a friendly guy & makes friends wherever he goes. Here his is with his friend Miya and another kid they met at the park.
VISITING UCSD WITH TIO
My brother is finishing off his last quarter at UCSD, so we wanted him to give us a tour of the campus before things got too hectic for him. The library there is named after Theodor Geisel, who is more commonly known as Dr. Seuss. Here's Mike with our little Thing 1 and Thing 2 by the statue outside the library.
Here's Sam sitting on Dr. Seuss's shoulder. Thanks for all the fantastic books, Dr. Seuss! We read them every day!!!
Here's the spacey Geisel library. Pretty amazing looking isn't it?!
So there's a futuristic library & then this giant stone teddy bear. It's quite imposing and interesting. I want to know to how it's held together.
Joshua wasn't sure what to make of it. Me neither. I liked it though!
The huge UCSD campus made Joshua look so small.
He spent much of our UCSD tour in the stroller, so I wouldn't lose him. He can take off running so fast now that a twin carrying mommy can't catch him very easily or quickly.
Here's a happy twin carrying mommy!
FUN TIMES WITH GRAMMA
My mom drives down to our house twice a week to play with the babies and Joshua and help me with a myriad of things. It's so nice for all of us to have her come! Here she is reading books to Joshy who is a lover of books.
This ride at Sea World makes me sick, so here's nice Gramma going on it with Joshy. Thanks, Gramma!
AT THE PARK
Weeee! Joshy is so brave to go down all the big twisty slides now.
Daddy is brave too. Look at him going down that tall twisty slide with Joshy! Go, Daddy, go!
I love Joshy's happy face in this blurry picture. He is going fast and loving it!
Joshy had a lot of fun on this semi-scary tire swing. I was worried that he was going to fall off the back at any second, but he held on "tight tight" so he wouldn't fall.
Sometimes Joshy gets to be my backpack while I push the babies in their snap-n-go stroller (shown in the picture above). He seems to like his high view and relaxing traveling method. It's so nice for me too. I don't have to chase him when he's attached to me!
