Take me out to the ball game...

We took Joshua to his first baseball game a few weeks ago: Mariners vs. Yankees. He enjoyed people-watching while Ryan & I enjoyed Joshua-watching. None of us, therefore, saw much of the game, which didn't really matter since the Mariners lost anyway.

We all had a great time just being together! (Ever wonder who Joshua gets his big smile from?)

Our seats were up in the "nosebleed" section, which had its advantages:

1. We were out of the roasting hot sun for most of the game. Yes, Seattle does have a few really hot days in the summer.

2. We had a beautiful view of the city at sunset. Can you see the tiny Space Needle in the background?

Backpacking

We inherited a hiking backpack from our super nice friends, so we decided to take Joshua on an adventure. We didn't go far since we weren't sure how he would fare in the new mode of transportation, but he loved it!


Joshua really liked being at eye level with me & Ryan, and also facing out so he could see everything we were seeing.


We went to the top of an old water tower that provided some amazing views.

The Runaway

Joshua has been so good about staying on his little leopard bed while I shower every day. He's usually quite happy to lay there kicking his feet or playing with a toy, but not today. He ventured off the bed in the direction of the blow dryer. (Unfortunately, he loves cords.) He only got as far as the picture shows before I caught him, but I fear that the days of being contained on the leopard bed (or anywhere else for that matter) are numbered. I need to start doing some serious childproofing!

Tide Pools

The tide was down -3 feet the other day so we headed to the tide "pools" (more like tide flats) to see what we could find.

We found some crabs,

starfish,

and some tiny fish.


There were quite a lot of people exploring the exposed ocean shore.


It was a beautiful day to be outside!

Go Ryan Go!

Ryan finished his first triathlon last month. He really enjoyed it & hopes to do another one again soon... hopefully in a warmer lake.

Here he is entering the frigid, 58 degree water of Lake Sammamish.


After his brisk swim, Ryan ditched the wetsuit & hopped on his bike for a nice ride.


Lastly, he ran a few miles to the finish line.
